Write failed: Disk quota exceeded (122)

When login to cPanel control panel and suddenly encounter an error message that says

Write failed: Disk quota exceeded (122)

This error message indicates that your hosting disk space is full and you need to free up some space to get rid of this error.

Cause:

This error message appears when the hosting diskspace allocated to your hosting account is full. When the disk quota is exceeded, cPanel is unable to write to the disk and hence the error message is displayed.

Solution:

To resolve the issue, you will need to free up some space on your hosting account by deleting unwanted website files and emails.

Here is some advise on how free up the diskspace:

  1. Log in to your hosting cPanel control panel.
  2. Navigate to the “File Manager
  3. Identify and delete any unused files, such as old backups, unused plugins, and themes.
  4. Delete any unused emails, especially those with large attachments.
  5. Empty your website’s trash folder.
  6. If your website has a large database, consider optimizing it to free up space.

Once you have completed these steps, try refresh the cPanel again. The error message should no longer appear.
